June 1-July 31, 2010 UCSD Arts Library Exhibit on Tom Swift

Monday, June 14 (Noon): Tom Swift and his Airship Live Radio Show Performance. Actors from San Diego’s WriteOutLoud performed along with the UCSD Arts Library’s own Scott Paulson providing live music & old-school radio sound effects. UCSD Library. Free and Open to the Public. Sunday, July 11: James Keeline will present on Tom Swift in Space for the San Diego Space Society.

Friday, July 16 (8am-5:30pm): "In the Footsteps of Edward Stratemeyer: a San Diego tour for Tom Swift fans" will be led by Stratemeyer Syndicate expert, James D. Keeline. Trip will include the San Diego Air and Space Museum, the Automotive Museum, Hotel del Coronado, and the UCSD Library Tom Swift Centennial exhibit and the 4pm live radio drama performance. Tour is by Advanced Registration only. You must buy your tickets before July 10th. See Tour link above for more details. Lunch will be included.

Friday, July 16 (4:00 p.m.): Tom Swift and the Visitor from Planet X Live Radio Show Performance. Actors from San Diego’s WriteOutLoud will perform along with the UCSD Arts Library’s own Scott Paulson providing live music & old-school radio sound effects. UCSD Library. Saturday, July 17 (8:30am-4:00pm): Tom Swift 100th Anniversary Convention. Speakers and Exhibits related to Tom Swift series books (their history, science, and legacy) will be presented. Please check out the Program page above for more details.

Saturday, July 17 (5pm-8:00pm): Tom Swift Dinner. You are invited to dress as your favorite Tom Swift character (or a related costume--think other series books, retro space themes, steampunk, etc.). There will be an optional Tom Swift-themed gift exchange for those who wish to participate. Dinner, Trivia Games, etc. You must book your dinner in advance. Dinner tickets will be sold until July 11th.
